Terms of Service
Last updated: 28 July 2026
Welcome to Our Meal Planner. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use the app. They're written in plain English on purpose - if anything is unclear, contact us.
1. Using the app
- You need an account to use the app, and you're responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens under your account.
- You must be 16 or older to create an account. Younger family members may take part in a family group with a parent or guardian's involvement.
- The app is currently free. If we ever introduce paid plans, we'll tell you clearly beforehand, and paying will always be your choice - we won't start charging for something you already rely on without notice.
2. Your content
- Your recipes stay yours. You own everything you add to the app - recipes, meal plans, notes, photos. We claim no ownership over any of it.
- You give us permission to store and display your content so the app can work - for example, showing your recipes to the members of your group. That's the only thing we use it for.
- Sharing is the point - and it's lasting. When you add a recipe to a group, you're contributing it to that group's shared cookbook. If you later leave the group or delete your account, the group keeps those recipes and any shared meal plans (with your name removed). Don't share anything you wouldn't want the group to keep.
- Only add content you have the right to share - don't paste in material that infringes someone else's copyright.
3. Fair use
Please don't:
- use the app for anything unlawful;
- try to access other people's accounts or data, or probe, bypass, or test our security;
- upload anything harmful (malware, spam, abusive material);
- overload the service with automated requests or bulk scraping.
If an account seriously or repeatedly breaks these rules, we may suspend or close it. Where practical, we'll warn you first.
4. A note on food and allergies
Recipes, ingredients, and shopping lists in the app are entered by you and your group, and our ingredient parsing is automatic and not perfect. Always check ingredients and quantities yourself, especially where allergies, intolerances, or medical dietary requirements are involved. The app is a planning tool, not dietary or medical advice.
5. Nutrition figures and daily targets
The food log shows estimates, not measurements. Calories and nutrients are worked out by matching what you type, say, or pick against a public food database, then scaling it by the amount we think you meant. Matching and portion sizes are frequently approximate, food data varies between brands and batches, and anything you enter as free text is our best guess at what you ate.
Daily targets are general guidelines calculated from broad public health figures and the age and sex you enter. They are not personalised advice, they take no account of your health, medication, pregnancy, training, or anything a professional would consider, and you can change or hide them at any time.
Do not use this app to make medical or clinical decisions. If you are managing a health condition, following a prescribed diet, or making decisions about what you or your family eat for health reasons, talk to a doctor or registered dietitian. Where you speak your food log aloud, the transcription is done by your own browser or device, and speech recognition makes mistakes - check what it entered.
6. The service
- We work hard to keep the app available and your data safe, but the app is provided “as is” - we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
- We may add, change, or remove features over time. If we ever plan to shut the service down, we'll give you reasonable notice so you can export your data (Settings → Export my data).
- You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete my account).
7. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, and our total liability to you is limited to NZ$100 (or, if you are ever on a paid plan, the amount you paid us in the last 12 months, whichever is greater). Nothing in these terms limits rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or any other law that cannot be excluded.
8. Privacy
How we handle your personal information is covered by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time - for example, if the app gains new features or introduces paid plans. We'll update the date at the top, and if a change is significant we'll let you know in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and any disputes will be handled by the New Zealand courts.
